Over 7 great years, Hope MK has been an amazing project that has impacted and encouraged so many young people including the adults who have attended and have volunteered. Communities have benefitted greatly from these projects across Milton Keynes. However, in the last three years we have found that it has been challenging for this event to develop with the churches and volunteers’ numbers declining; making it difficult to run a four-day project like before.

The core team and Bridgebuilder Trust (who have overseen and underwritten the event) feel that there is still a place for a citywide youth event but are open to what the format might look like in the future. To keep as many young people as possible engaged in the event, and ensure the most effective youth event and best use of funds and resources, we knew that the event had needed to change in this season. Hope MK has needed to be reshaped to keep it alive so, we now have our three annual evening meetings called Hope Unite. These evenings are for the young people to come together, make friends and worship God.

We are now in our fourth year. Each year, the number of young people and church attendance for this event has increased. In our Hope MK event in October, we now have missional activities as part of the program. With more interest, more young people, and more volunteers, we will see Hope MK become larger and run longer.

We believe God is in control and will lead and guide us as Hope MK is shaped. Watch this space!

Each year it takes a whole bunch of people to make Hope MK happen, from adults leading teams, adults in support roles, churches/ organisations or individuals hosting projects, young leaders and of course young people!
