There’s little doubt that the anthem of Hope MK 2015 was ‘The Way‘. I’ve not stopped listening to it this week. But it’s ‘Stand Up‘, the following track on the Set Apart album, which has really struck me, and which God has used to speak to me & encourage me this week. The video is included at the bottom of this post, but here are the lyrics which stood out as an echo of some of the teaching last week:
“history behind us, destiny before us”
On Friday night Paul Oxley reminded us of the time Jesus went up a mountain with His friends and something incredible happened and the disciples wanted to build something to commemorate the moment. But then they went down the mountain again. Paul said that as special as those ‘Holy moments’ are, we’re not supposed to remain in them. We need to move on. It seems harsh to say it, but Hope MK 2015 is now history – it’s over and done. It’s time to move on – to build on what God did through you all and move on to the next thing; doing the thing(s) He’s called you to and equipped you for, and in that seeking after more Holy moments.
“When we don’t know what to do, Our eyes will be fixed on You…”
On Thursday Phil Timson encouraged us to get out of the boat, and I’m still blown away by the response that day. But remember what happened to Peter when he got out of the boat: he started to fear the wind & the waves and he took his focus off Jesus and started to sink before crying out for Jesus to save him. Whatever you face this week, next month & beyond, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He will do amazing things in your life, and in the lives of others through you, if you will keep your focus on Him & what He can do, rather than on the circumstances around you.
“Moving on united, we are Your revival…”
One of the most amazing things about what happened last week is the way in which 25 churches come together in such an awesome show of unity. I have spoken to so many people who were involved or just visited last week, and it’s the thing they comment on most. Especially those who work with churches around the country. Don’t miss this: the unity at Hope MK is an *extraordinary* thing! It’s what Jesus prayed for so desperately before His crucifixion (John 17). And in unity, recognising the gifts & strengths of each other, working together in partnership, God is able to do even more amazing things than when we are divided. I believe the greatest legacy of Hope MK will be the sense of unity & the impact that will have on the churches of MK now & in the future. Jesus did something amazing through His 12 disciples – I can’t wait to see what He does to our city (& beyond) through 157 young people living & working in unity in His name & for His glory!
“Our faith is in You, The battle is Yours”
On Tuesday Ben Sleep taught us about the importance of being obedient to God’s will. If you are doing what God has called you to do, you have nothing to fear. You might feel you have huge, impossible obstacles to overcome, or massive battles to face, but be reminded that the battle is His, and He is more than able to face it & win!
“Every life is sold out”
I know that a number of project leaders & volunteers were absolutely physically exhausted over the weekend. I was practically unconscious for the whole of Saturday & Sunday evening. But I wouldn’t change it. There is only one thing worth being truly ‘sold out’ for, and that’s doing what Jesus has called you to do. What do you need to give up in your life to ensure that Jesus gets your very best?
Now take 5 minutes and 29 seconds out of your busy day to worship God and see what He has to say to you.
